Even though the surge of traffic didn’t last long, I still got exposed to a lot of readers. By paying John to review my blog I proved to everyone that I am a serious blogger and by showing my research I showed that I know what I did.

I consider my self to be an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurs are risk takers, and by paying for the expensive review I took a risk. I knew I wasn’t guaranteed a return on that money I paid but at least I did my homework on what was expecting.
If you are one of those who doubt that the paid review was a bad investment then look through the site a bit more. People are actually commenting a lot on my posts. I reply back and forth with them so this blog has become a lot more active before the paid review.
It doesn’t stop there, according to MyBlogLog, I have over 130 members in my community, plus I am in the ~16,000 rankings on Technorati. Not only that, my blog is now in the top 100,000 sites in the world on Alexa, and that’s without being in any Alexa train. At this rate I’m expecting in getting a PageRank 5 in the upcoming PR update since my ranking boost was done all honestly. Therefore, I don’t think I made a bad investment because new people are coming to check out my blog more and more, even from sites that I didn’t pay for a paid review from.
The advice of “Desi Baba” is out and it’s spreading and I’m just happy I got the active users that I have now. People find my posts useful and helpful so there’s no reason to look back.
As mentioned earlier I expect to get a PageRank 5 in the next PR update, I compared my site with TylerCruz.com, since I’m catching up with his site, and currently he has a PageRank 5.
I remember and I agree with Phil when he reviewed my blog, he said:
If the quality of posts on Blogging with Desi Baba remains as high as they are now, it’s sure to become heavily visited member of the blogosphere.
I’m hoping that this blog will increase more and more as time passes.
So, tell me, do you think I made a good investment or a bad investment?

Alexa isn’t accurate - exactly how many visitors did he send you? I think a lot of people would be really interested to know.

I found your blog from a BlogLines search.
I’m also a MyBlogLog member and have over 300 people in my community. I have over 5,000 contacts but that is because I got in before the 15 per day limit.
Best of luck on your venture.

Nice stats. I hope you will rise your blog stats even higher!
I have my current alexa rank at 126k. Just like what Kumiko’s question, I wonder what is the exact calculation of alexa…

It is what you do to make the visitors stay that makes the difference, when you get a great influx of traffic. With quality content, the review was worth every cent of it.

Technorati and Alexa aren’t the best indicators of how good a blog is. A friend of mine recently had hundreds of splogs link to him within a few days. His Technorati rating shot up. As for Alexa rankings, I don’t normally pay much attention. What I want to know is how your unique visitor numbers were affected, as well as your RSS subscribers.

Yeah, let’s see some Google Analytics charts and numbers. These charts really don’t mean that much.

I don’t see getting reviews as a bad thing. As long as you can see where you are going to benefit from it then they are fine. A bunch of small gains over time will put you in the top spots. For example, I am giving $100 dollars away to a blogger who will link back to my site. Getting 50 or so backlinks is well worth it and all you do have spend $100 bucks. Thats not to bad.
Desi keep it up you will be a PR8 soon and smile everything you check your bank account.

@Ken: Alexa isn’t that accurate like Kumiko said but it shows a little significant stats
@Vijay: Yeah I know, let’s see how much more it’ll grow
@Zool: thanks
@KC: so you came through his blog..nice
@Contest Blogger: yeah I know, but I don’t know why others think otherwise.
@hindimoviesong: I hope so too.
@Matt: you’re right but I use those stats as my motivation; however my RSS
@tbd: I was going to get to that, I will add it soon
@Best Gold Courses: Thanks, your words are a great motivation
@Charles: we’ll see if I can get a PR8 but I don’t expect that anytime soon, I expect a PR5 in the next update.
Finance Blog: yeah, you have be active otherwise the investment would be a waste
