		<description>Combining this post and the last one on facebook. I&#039;d like to say that I agree with you, these pure play community websites are on the road to perdition... The main reason why is because those websites target the most fickle demographic there is.

Teenagers and young adults are very trendy. Once MySpace/Facebook becomes to mainstream they&#039;ll want to move on to something else. Unlike Ebay with its feedback rating and unique access to the biggest auction market, there are very little barriers in pure play community websites to keep people from leaving... 

In addition, sooner or later, people on these sites will lead more demanding lives. With a full time job, student loans, mortgages and car payments, they will have less time to spend on online communities...

I think what will happen is niche community websites will survive. On the other, mainstream ones will go Highlander, in the end only one will be left.

Did anyone say Friendster or ICQ?</description>
