When you want to blog you get information from many sources. Blogging can be about your own experiences and knowledge or about information your get from other sources. Not all information that you get is accurate and is worthy of sharing with your readers. Here is a piece of information I am getting repeatedly and if I thought it is worth blogging then I’d be blundering.

“Earth is catching up with Mars [for] the closest approach between the two planets in recorded history.”
“On August 27th, 2007 Mars will look as large as the full moon.”
And finally, “NO ONE ALIVE TODAY WILL EVER SEE THIS AGAIN.”

Imagine Mars looking as large as the full moon to the naked eye (like in this picture)! I would be awake all night to witness the event. It is true that Mars came closest to earth in the last 50,000 years on 27th August 2003. Mars also came somewhat close in October 2005. Now there is an email doing the rounds that Mars is coming closest to earth tomorrow the 27th August, 2007! Fact is that the next time that Mars will come closer to earth than in 2003 will be in the year 2287. It is quite possible that you also have received such a hoax email.

When you blog be sure of the information that you are giving. We have to develop the habit of verifying what we are saying. It looks ridiculous giving false information.
