First of all this post has nothing to do with sex; just wanted to point that out, lolz. Instead of being bloggers, let’s turn things around and look at ourselves as blog readers. I have read a lot of blogs, some I love, others I hate. Sometimes it irritates me when the blog owner doesn’t care about his/her readers and he/she asks us readers to subscribe to his/her feed or give him donations.

I’ve seen many obstacles that stopped blogs from going to the next level. There are numerous obstacles that destroys or degrades a blog, but the ones I know from experience I listed them below.

Turn-Offs

Intermission Pages
These are a type of advertisements, usually done through AdBrite, that appear before you enter a page with another page loaded with advertisement banners.

Huge Ads
Gigantic ads are annoying and they throw the users off from the main content. If the ads are larger than the amount of content on a page then it’s surely not worth visiting that blog.

Hard Navigation
If I can’t find the navigation links such as Home, About, Archives in less than 10 seconds on the main page, then I leave the blog.

Too Many Graphics
Blogs are meant to be loaded up ASAP. If a blog cannot be loaded within 10 seconds then I will surely leave. Too many graphics and other components, such as Flash components, can slow down the loading time of a page.

Underage Actions
Bloggers who started out, write as if they’ve been blogging for a while, when they are not, and it shows in their writing.

Ad Cheating
You would be surprised at this, but I’m not; I’ve seen blogs in which bloggers point out to their readers to visit their sponsors or click on their ads.

What other ways can throw blog readers off?
