Cingular is known to be the largest wireless network in the United States and one of the best. However, it’s proclaimed by the AT&T company that the Cingular brand will be faded away in this upcoming June so, whatever is Cingular will soon be just AT&T.

In my opinion I think the replacement of the Cingular brand by the AT&T brand will be great for the company. AT&T is known to be one of America’s respected companies and so, having the AT&T name as the main brand will stand out more with respect.
Also, since the merging with Bell South, AT&T has become the largest telecommunications company in the world. That fact alone shows an incredible amount of authority in the wireless market that the company has, and staying with the AT&T brand will only resonate their businesses in more regions in the US which was occupied by Bell South before. Hopefully, the AT&T company will get its gears straight and merge with Bell South with ease with less time so, consumers don’t have trouble with their services.
An old established company like AT&T, being the leader of America’s wireless services, we can only look for great services in telecommunications from them.

Few things:
1. AT&T already acquired Cingular’s assets when they bought out BellSouth. Since Cingular was a joint venture between AT&T and Bellsouth, they in reality acquired two companies (one for 100% stake and the other for 40-60% stake).
2. AT&T and Bellsouth have already merged.
3. Customers are never going to have problems with their services because of a merger.
4. The only problem with renaming Cingular to AT&T is wasting all those millions/billions they invested into building a brand. A ton of consumers don’t follow up on news and they are never going to know what happened to Cingular.

I already mentioned that “AT&T and Bellsouth have already merged”. Because I said “since the merging with Bell South”
I was a Cingular/AT&T customer and when Cingular was merging with AT&T I had a hard time paying my bills electronically. Even calling customer service was not giving me any solutions. Customer service was saying that they had problems with their computers. So I’m saying that out of experience.
You said “The only problem with renaming Cingular to AT&T is wasting all those millions/billions they invested into building a brand. A ton of consumers don’t follow up on news and they are never going to know what happened to Cingular.” You’re right, it will cost millions but when Cingular customers call for customer service by dialing 611 and when the operator say “Welcome to AT&T”, then what? Obviously Cingular customers will know that something has changed.

I was referring to the seond last paragraph and the last few lines that implied the fact that BS and AT&T haven’t merged yet.
What you experienced was a technical glitch on their end, and it wasn’t caused by the merger.
I’m not saying they will never know, but they are certainly putting those millions to waste. Rest assured though that AT&T is doing its part to inform customers. It’s painful to see a perfectly good brand name disappear.

Well, Cingular had bad customer service from time to time, and some of my friends who had Cingular agrees. So, I’m guessing Cingular brand name isn’t that great.
However, I had good customer service with T-Mobile.

In Firefox I normally use right-click > “Open in new tab” when browsing web pages. This can also be done when clicking on a bookmark. . . Is there any way to get Firefox to do this automatically (by default) when left-clicking a bookmark instead of having to do the right click?.
