It’s really interesting to see the fluctuations of positions of sites with the keyword “desi baba”. Yesterday my site was 5th on the first page on Google for “desi baba” but now I’m not even on the top five pages. The only links I get from the top positions of Google search with the keyword “desi baba” is from sites that reviewed this blog. Weird, isn’t it? Well, not really, it’s all part of Google’s algorithm. Since I write various articles in different subjects, a lot of them without the keyword “desi baba”, it resulted in lowering my site’s ranking in Google search.

If you actually look at my topics of how I structure the titles, you’ll notice the keywords that I’m targeting are on the title. I put the title the keyword, which I’m targeting, separated by a hyphen. I’m not the only one who does this. John Chow does this with his link baiting batches. In each one of his batches he titles them with “make money online – batch # (batch count)”. Since the title of each post in Wordpress blogs, such as this blog or John Chow’s blog, is between the the h1, h2, or the h3 codes, Google bots will pay attention to the titles. John Chow mentioned “make money online” in each one of his batch titles, which got Google bot to keep him in 2nd place on Google search for “make money online”. Also, his anchor text of “make money online” from hundreds to thousands of other blogs also helped him boost his position and keep his position stable on Google search tremendously.

I chose “desi baba” as the key phrase to get into Google search because it has less competition. My site has enough authority in links, in anchor texts, and in PageRank, according to Google, to get a good search position with “desi baba”. One of my biggest competition is a site that has multiple domain extensions with “desi baba” in the domain name. Even though I only have “desi” in my domain name I know I can still surpass that site’s position. So, let’s see what happens…
