In the blogsphere Digg.com is known to bring a good number of visitors to sites that offer great content. However, for the average blogger, Digg users are bad for blogs. Blogs are created for sharing ideas and news for online readers, as in taking the time to read the content, but Digg users are another story, they usually stay on a site for 10-15 seconds just skimming through the pages before they leave.

In my opinion I think bloggers should stay at the minimum when trying to get traffic from Digg. Digg users are a very bad source of traffic for bloggers when trying to generate some revenue. A lot of my articles were dugg well and they got a huge number of hits from Digg; however, it didn’t generate that much revenue because Digg users are blind to advertisements. If you write some great content and get some Digg traffic, then you’re only wasting your bandwidth because that traffic will only generate you very little profits. For the most part if you gain traffic from Digg then you’re only loosing your money that you invested on your site.

What could get Digg’s attention?
I’ve done little experiments with what would get the Digg community’s attention and I found out that if you were a nerd then it would get your attention too. Digg users are known to be Apple favoring nerds from numerous blogs on the web, especially from JohnChow.com. The only way you get Digg’s attention, as in getting on the front page, is by writing good articles. When I say writing a good article, I don’t mean writing just any articles, but writing articles favoring Apple and bashing Microsoft, or anything related to technology or controversies in the technology market. Another way to get some attention from Digg users is just posting anything relating to sexual content. I read that usually Digg users are nerds that stay in front of their computers all day and some of them are horny perverts; anything that relates to females and masturbation will obviously get their attention, but I could be wrong.

I don’t know what is up with Digg users favoring Apple so much, but after a while it does get annoying for someone like me. Don’t get me wrong, Digg is a great site built on the potential of the huge community of nerds. However, with so many people on it with little attention span, I think bloggers should look elsewhere to gain traffic to generate revenue from their blogs.
