It’s true, bloggers should blog for their readers but he or she must understand the priorities of other things. For example, I have missed to publish a post one day of this month so far. The reason I missed to publish a post was due to my college; I’m in my senior year so I have other things to take care of relating to school.
I don’t blog for money, I blog to help others out by putting what I know, my knowledge, into words. I do take blogging seriously, but I blog when I have time to do it.
Don’t be a Slave to your Blog
As you noticed I do have a good number of readers, and I’m also under pressure to blog once everyday, since that is my blogging frequency. However, with things in my life coming up, it’s hard to blog well often.
I will only write if I can write a good post. I will not publish anything if it isn’t a good post. I know by being a blogger I am a slave to my readers since I write for them, but I don’t allow myself to be a slave of my blog. However, I wouldn’t mind being a slave to a girl =P.
When you blog, do your best not be a slave to your own blog. Your blog is just a tool, not your master. I used to be a slave for a site before, everything I did would be revolving around my site. After a while I realized that this was ridiculous and I got tired of it. Ever since then I just stopped worrying about if my site is up or not, or how many visitors it was receiving in a certain hour, etc. I know it was pathetic, but it was all about money. The more visitors I had the more money I received so, I was always thinking about money. After a while I just I stopped with it; there’s more to life than to extract money.
I made my self to not think about money. That’s why I don’t make a big deal about my earnings anymore. I think by doing so, I would only be boasting my pride and discouraging others. My goal is to help beginning level writers blog. and if I show my earnings a bit too much then they may feel discouraged, and they may feel less motivated. The reason they may feel less motivated is may be due to the amount of time and hard work they need to contribute to reach a certain level to make the amount of money I make. Therefore, in order to help others I don’t really boast on how much I make online.
Are you a slave to your blog?

I try not to force myself to post and usually I don’t post unless I have something good to say, but occasionally I do feel that I must post no matter what and my posts feel somewhat rushed.

Hi Sunny,
Yes I have to agree with you, for not being a slave to our blog. We dont have to indeed.
Ever since you asked me to write a review for you about a month ago, I was hooked to your blog. Indeed I am learning a lot from you.. from the way you write your blog, the way you interact with your reader, by always asking question at the end of the post and things like that.
Just happen that my blog is about my journey of learning how to make money from internet. There are times when I felt I was under pressure that I have to come out with something. Trying to post at least once in two days. I have to admit that, sometimes I just dont have a thing to write. And I dont want to just anyhow write for the sake of posting..
So.. yes dont be your blog’s slave. Once again Sunny, thank you!
Regards,

My problem is it’s a bit ADDICTIVE. Especially when you can track your income stats on sites like AdSense a part of my brain thinks “The more content I have, the more money I’ll earn! Better write something else”.
That’s why I’ve given myself Sunday as “No Computer Day”. I recommend everyone try it.

Brad that’s exactly what I was thinking about doing. It not only gives yourself a break, but when you tell your readers, I think they can respect you as a person even more. They see that you don’t do it solely for the money and you actually do have a life.

Just like any job you need to find a good balance between work and play. If you already love what you’re writing about, then there should be no trouble finding the balance!
