One of the most common mistakes that novice level bloggers do is they imitate other established bloggers. I see many people imitating big time bloggers and I say to my self, yeah I was like him once. Yes, it’s true I did imitate big-time bloggers before, but I figured out that being unique is what identifies what a good blog is. I learned that being different is one of the keys to being a better blogger.

As a blogger you want to stand out, and copying what other bloggers do will NOT get you anywhere.

If you think about it, why would you go to a beginner’s blog when you can go to an long-time established blog, which has more credibility. If I wanted advice I would rather go to a blog which has been operating for a year then go to a blog that has been operating for a week.

There are over 100,000 million blogs on the web and some are just better than others. The ones that stand out are the ones that are indistinguishable from the rest.

To stand out from the rest is what your aim should be. I am currently doing my best to make my blog be different from the rest. If you look at Steve Pavlina, for example, his blog is nothing fancy, yet he stands out as the top source for personal development advice due to his writings.

So, when blogging make sure you don’t copy anyone else’s blogging style. Create your own style to be unique and which will lead you to dominate a certain niche on the web.
