What goes up must come down, especially in the case of blog traffic. Traffic is the main thing that all bloggers search for. I search for all types of traffic all the time. However, I don’t stress about it if I get traffic and then I lose it. Attracting readers to your blog is one thing, but attracting them to your content is the main thing. You may be wondering what I mean, but if you think about it people are reading your content without coming to your site. They have feed readers.

Losing Money
Bloggers who are on the quest of making money online may feel insecure if more people are reading their content through their feed than to coming to their site. In my case I’m not worried about losing traffic since getting my content out is what matters. In the meantime I’m still earning some revenue. Ever since Google acquired FeedBurner, the feed service I use, my AdSense ads have been showing up within the posts in the feed.

Other Revenue
If a blog was to generate other forms of revenue then ads are not the best choice to make profits. Paid reviews are traffic dependent; however, if you have a high number of subscribers then it’s beneficial to your advertisers.

Downside?
Well we may think there is a downside to this, but there isn’t. As bloggers, we should just concentrate in increasing our subscriptions and not our site traffic. However, getting traffic is a big plus. At the same time, the more subscribers you get the more loyalty you’ll have. Only loyal readers will subscribe to your blog.

I know one blogger wrote that I made a bad investment by getting John Chow to review my blog, but I know I didn’t.

Bob said:

Even if you get a review by some of the bigger names in blogging like JohnChow, Sunny will definitely not earn back the $400 he forked out for a 600 words review in his traffic results, ergo adsense results.

Seriously, Bob didn’t know what I was aiming for. Gaining revenue with AdSense was not my goal. Exposing my blog to the blogsphere was my main goal. When I’m blogging, I always keep in mind that making money isn’t my first priority.

My subscription numbers are increasing every week but at the same time my traffic started to decrease after the 3rd day after John reviewed my blog. I’m not worried nor do I care as long as my loyal readership is increasing.

So, what do you think?
