Here in Dubai; fake versions of the iPhone are being sold in some small shops. Apples iPhone is still due for official launch this year in this part of the world. The fake phones are Chinese made and the imitations retail for Dh1,400 ($380) and no warranty is offered on the phones. The real iPhone costs $500 in the United States. The fake ones run on a Linux operating system and a also comes with a stylus. You find grammatical errors when you start using the fake iPhone! Some shoppers have bought these either thinking it is the real one or because it retails for much lesser than the original. A dancing Chinese looking lady comes up on the welcome screen. Apples logo followed by a background image of fish and coral, similar to the one seen on the actual iPhone pops up. Dubai is very well known for fake watches, clothes, hand bags and perfumes.
