FOBANA (Federation Of Bangladesh Associations of North America) was fun. There were a lot of Desi drama between the performers and the audiences. The funny part is I hardly watched the show and yet I still enjoyed the event. I saw many diverse group of Bengali people. It’s an event to remember. Usually in big events like this one, young people like me come just to meet up with old friends and to chill; the same things goes for the uncles and aunties (the adults).
One thing that I was proud of was that now that the Bengali community is showing more visibility in the Desi world, we actually have Indians getting involved in the Bengali shows. In FOBANA we had Indian performers from the Silent Killer dance group giving an outstanding performance; the crowd was cheering the most for them for their talented performance-I gotta give mad props to Morhad Bhai (or Prem) for the choreography.
The three day event was very enjoyable and memorable even though I came for the last two days. Insh’Allah I’ll go to more shows like this one in the near future….
