The people who check their stats as little as possible are the ones who are better at improving their blogs. Instead of worrying about how much money is earned, using that time to create quality content is better.
When I first started out with AdSense, it was one of the biggest degrader of my motivation. I would check the stats often, like every single hour, to see how many more cents, if not dollars, I’ve earned. Unfortunately, it wasn’t much. I would constantly check till I realized that this is not the way to make a good online income. I based everything in one basket and AdSense was my only stream of income. But when the earnings went down I got very upset for the day.
Google AdSense Can Kick you Out
Google has banned devoted online money makers such as Kumiko, from cashquests.com, for invalid clicks or something related to that. Whether the invalid clicks were authentic or not really doesn’t matter to Google, and Google will not distribute the money to the publisher after he or she is banned. I’ve seen other bloggers, usually small time bloggers getting banned weeks after they were approved by Google. They may or may not have fraudulent activities, but without any explanation to the publisher Google can and will ban them without notice as they wish.
Don’t be Dependent on Google
I’m not much of a fan of getting in the top position of Google search like I used to be. Yes, it may help me in boosting my traffic but with a single algorithm change by Google, all that traffic can go down. Getting traffic from Google is a positive thing and you should allow that to happen, as in working on search engine optimization, but do your best to get traffic in other ways. Even though if you get a good amount of traffic, concentrate on getting more and more in different ways.
Did you get hurt from Google?

That’s very good advice. It’s definitely worth looking at other forms of income. Amazon.com is well worth a look for their program as is YesAsia.com though I run a few anime site’s so that’s what works for me.

Totally agree with you Sunny.
Now, I still got the Adsense clicks according to MyBlogLog stat even though I was banned months ago due to invalid clicks. Google already disabled all their adsense ad in my blogs and websites. I have taken out the Adsense ads and replaced them with other contextual/content ads. such as, PayPerPost, The AuctionAd, The Newsroom, Kontera, Amazon. Among these adsense alternatives PayPerPost is the most outstanding.

To be honest Desi, I’ve found my self checking the AdSense stats much more often that I’d like to… It’s become some sort of addiction at this time!

What really sucks with Google is that you get banned when you actually start getting clicks. When you are new, you make a few cents here and there, but when you get bigger, not too big, but in the middle, like Kumiko, that’s when you have the higher chance to get banned. You start getting happy that you are making money, but the clicks get suspicious and before you know it, you out of adsense before making it to $100 and lose it all. a really sucky feeling if you ask me.

I agree with you. I was making some good money with adsense by clearing almost $600 a day. They trademarked a word I was using then my income dropped to $10 a day. kind of sucks but that’s the way google works. They love you to bring traffic to their advertisers but if one person gets upset then they try to stop you. They are very reactionary in the way they do adwords and adsense.

Yall have me a lil scared, like Google will be around for a while then just take everything away. Well, just means to diversify. I haven’t had any troubles, hopefully it stays that way.

This problem is not only Google’s, this is with ANY company. You simply can not rely on one single company for something. Be it with traffic or income, being dependent is just asking for trouble. No matter how small, there is always a possibility that bad things happens, even with the best of them, and you have to be ready for it.

I remember when I first started out with all my preparation for my Internet venture in June 2007, I was logging in and out of google adsense, adwords, webmaster tools, gmail, calendar, etc… I am trying to learn more about their functionality and how it works for me… Suddenly, google just forbid me from logging in! I was wondering what’s happening! And it states there that it suspects I am a program or something like that…
Yah… I have learnt not to look at my adsense anymore… Forget about it and concentrate…

Well guys, Google can do as they please because they do own AdSense and they do have a good share in the market. Google is slowly buying out more and more companies.
Don’t hate on Google, just find alternatives. ShoeMoney.com don’t even depend on Google they have AzoogleAds

Nice article. I am pretty web savvy and fluent with the whole Google world. I have just launched my own desi clothing site at http://www.brownmanclothing.com. Some have suggested that I ad AdSense to the site. Any ideas? I feel that if your site is an informative site then yeah, go for it. But if it is a polished and clean site, adding AdSense makes it look junkie… or is that just me?
