Did you ever want to know what your site’s position was in search results? I did when I was targeting a keyword. Before, I went through the list of the search results and looked for my site for a particular keyword. No more of that anymore, because I found a nice tool to tell me where I stand in search results.

Jeremy Schoemaker created this SERP (Search Engine Results Pages) tool to find out where a site stands in search results. Of course there are other SERP tools out there, but they charge for their software and services. Jeremy offers the tool for free and it’s great for bloggers who are researching how to improve their search results. This tool gives results on Google, MSN, Yahoo, and AltaVista.

To test the authenticity of the tool I checked it with the keyword “blog” and the URL to be http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blog. The results show that it’s listed as number one in Google search. And when I actually did the search on Google.com it did list as number one. Therefore, it does work well.

I typed in “make money online” for my URL http://www.desinotes.com and surprisingly my site was listed as the 42nd site for that keyword. If you look at my previous post then you’ll know that I have never targeted “make money online”, go figure. Check out the screen shot below:

So try it; if your site is in the first 100 sites in the search results, then it’ll be displayed with the exact position in the search results.
