Since I’m starting a forum for this site I decided to research how to get my forum up and running to get it to be very active. I read in various blog articles that participating in other forums, big forums especially, helps drive traffic to your site.

Bloggers who have heavy traffic usually start their marketing by being very active in forums, which I think is a great idea to get people’s trust. If you want a lot of forum traffic then join heavy traffic forums that relate to your site. Make sure you have a link to your site in your signature, 95% of all the forums have a space below your post to put your site’s link. In the forums you joined help others, give advice, and suggest positive things to other suers of the forum who seek help. Also, make frequent posts and ask the admins if you can be moderator of the forums.

When you are active and offer help in the forums you gain the trust of other users and they will most likely, about 90% of the time, visit your site. Helping others is a great way to gain trust, gain traffic, and create a good web community.
