John Chow dot Com is my favorite blog out of all the blogs. I have been visiting this site often for a month now and what I love about this blog is that it’s not all about technology and making money. His blog description, “The Miscellaneous Ramblings of a Dot Com Mogul”, is what got me hooked on to his blog. His blog topics is miscellaneous so, he talks about interesting random things just like this site.

He gets a good amount of hits to his site. According to his advertising page, he gets about 200,000 uniques visitors a month and he has an excellent rank on Alexa.com with a 3,823 position. However, with that many hits the site only generates him $2,139.93 total from all his advertising programs together. His november earnings are from Google AdSense ($872.69), Vibrant IntelliTXT ($791.56), Text Link Ads ($30.00), ReviewMe ($50.00), FeedBurner Ads ($57.14), and his other site’s content of TTZ Media ($338.54).

Dissapointing
With all that many hits he couldn’t even break $1,000 per month from Google AdSense. The small AdSense earnings shows that the owner, John Chow, is not earning the maximum amount of money that AdSense can generate him from his site. He hasn’t tweaked his site enough to reach the highest potential of his site’s earning capabilities. If you go to his site http://www.johnchow.com, you will see that Google AdSense is not visible enough because it’s dark green, same as the text. His background of the ads matches the site’s background color, which is good; however, if you scroll down as a regular visitor you will hardly notice the ads and therefore you won’t click on them.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not putting the guy down; John Chow is an excellent writer and he has done a great job with his blog. His content is very interesting to read and he keeps those quality content coming everyday. However, his blog is a bit over a year old, which is great, but he still recieves less than $3,000 per month from all his advertising programs and that dissapoints me.

With 200,000 unique hits he should get around $5,000 just from AdSense every month if he tweaked his site better. But he’s happy with what he’s earning so I guess it OK for him.

If you have Google AdSense, just remember AdSense has unlimited potential and the earnings grow exponentially as you update your site more and more through the weeks and months. Remember, you can become a millionaire with AdSense if you try.
