The one thing that does not get you lasting success in the blogosphere is lying. It is ok to make unintentional mistakes (we all do it), but it is completely unacceptable to outright cheat fellow bloggers. But then it is the path a few bloggers resort to. I just discovered that one Ashwin Khanna at ashwinkhanna.com ran a scam contest announcing a reward of $2,500 to anyone who posted 4 lines about his blog mentioning of his $2,500 reward. What the immature cheat did was finally give the prize to no one. What he did was to announce the winner as this Wordpress site that he himself set up! It is obvious that this site was set up by himself or some one very close to him only for the purpose of making this anonymous fictitious site look like the $2,500 winner. I believe this blog was started very shortly before he announced it the winner. Many people fell for his tempting contest and he managed to get several link backs

But then the world is not so stupid. Thanks to Phil Van Treuren of Contest Blogger and Angel for bringing it out. I never knew of Ashwin nor have I participated in his contest, but thought I must share this with my readers so that people are aware of such dishonest bloggers. The blogs Technorati rating has moved to under 500! Ashwin could well get a PR4 in the next Google update. But he must realize that it is the end of his blogging career. Nothing is worse than having your name tarnished in the blogosphere. As a blogger on the World Wide Web or a business person in the real world it takes years to build good credibility and just one day to lose it. Ashwin has managed to achieve the latter.
