Meet ‘Albert Hubo’ from South Korea! At the recent week-long technology fair at Campus Party in Valencia in Spain this robot supposedly kindled the interest of many visitors. A packed audience was keen to watch the robot perform.

Albert Hubo is the creation of Jun Ho Oh of South Korea’s Institute of Advanced Technology. The robot is made to look like a 21st century Albert Einstein. The robot packed with 66 motors can walk, talk, smile and do some bizarre movements.

You can watch a video of the robot here. I must confess I was not impressed – I do not know what other capabilities the robot has, but the video does not give me the impression it is a smart robot. While the robot does look funny and catches your attention (the head is an excellent resemblance of Einstein) its performance leaves a lot to be desired. The robots walk is slower than a 80 year old mans walk!

According to the creator; the future of mankind is ‘robotic’. He says that Robotic movement will extend to all kinds of applications and eventually they will become potential helpers and assistants at your home and elsewhere. I seriously doubt if a robot can really help man in his day today activities. Even 50 years down the line they may not come anywhere close to a fraction of the complex working of the human mind. It’s a stupid dumb mechanical gizmo after all. Albert Hubo is good for a demonstration in an exhibition but may be of little practical use.

What do you think of their potential? Do you think a Robot can be a useful help at your home in 50 years from now?
