Yes, you read it right, EMI Music has talked with Google to publish music videos on YouTube. You think this will hurt the artists, financially? Well, not really, according to TechCrunch, EMI will give compensation to the music artists.

EMI will use YouTube’s content identification and reporting system to track and monetize its content and compensate artists. The tools also give EMI Music the ability to request the removal of EMI’s copyrighted content from YouTube.

In my opinion, I think this is a joke. Every music video you can think of is already on YouTube. Not only that, but with KeepVid.com you can download those music videos easily. Many people not just downloaded those videos, but they also loaded them to their iPod. With a third-party softwares to transfer media files from iPods to computers, it’s just easier to share those videos for free.

EMI getting permission to publish music videos on YouTube is nothing but a waste. What’s the difference of music videos uploaded by EMI and a regular youTube user? Nothing really, the only difference may be a little improvement in video quality, but that’s it.
