It seems as if every week a new social network is created and they sent out a massive number of invitations via emails, messages on forums, and PMs on other social networks to gain members. After a month or two they tend to close down because they don’t get enough members for their network.
Online social networks are all the same nowadays. Bebo, Firendster, Ringo, etc. were once up there but then FaceBook came along and took over the competition with their superior yet simple networking features.
If you have a unique idea that no other site ceated then create a social network otherwise dump the idea. Investing in social networks nowadays is not worth it. You’re only going to loose money. If you were to create a social network then you would have to start your site on a dedicated server which can cost around $300 with setup and first month payment. $300 is alot of money and not many are willing to pay that much for a website.
My best advice is, stick with blogging, it’s cheap investments with a big proftiable outcome if you know how to play it right.

No offense or anything, but I don’t think you are an expert with startups. Entrepreneurship is much more than being a blogger. Just because you have a blog and you generate some revenue, it doesn’t make you an entrepreneur.
Also, if Facebook can beat others then someone new can beat Facebook just as well.
Look at the statistics of successful blogs. That’s like comparing a big company vs a startup. The success rate is right next to zero.

I never said I was an expert, I just have expereince, I’m still learning. I have been online for a long time and I’ve seen many social networks fall. I know entrepreneurship is more than blogging, but I’m an advocate of blogging because its easy for most people.
Do you evern know what just said when you used entrepreneur?
Entrepreneur is one who assumes the financial risk of the initiation, operation, and management of a given business or undertaking. - http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=define%3A+entrepreneur&btnG=Search
I took a risk by investing money. A website with ads is a business.
Only 1/100 would try and try again after failing in social networks.
You’re right FaceBook can be beaten but i kept on saying “nowadays”, because nowadays most social networks are very similar to one another
