It seems as if every week a new social network is created and they sent out a massive number of invitations via emails, messages on forums, and PMs on other social networks to gain members. After a month or two they tend to close down because they don’t get enough members for their network.

Online social networks are all the same nowadays. Bebo, Firendster, Ringo, etc. were once up there but then FaceBook came along and took over the competition with their superior yet simple networking features.

I read about some people saying the “next big thing” when they plan to create a social network which leads only to failure. The reason they fail is that they make every features the same as the other social network, it’s just under a new name. The same features include private messaging, profile comments, uploading pics, friends list, etc.

If you have a unique idea that no other site ceated then create a social network otherwise dump the idea. Investing in social networks nowadays is not worth it. You’re only going to loose money. If you were to create a social network then you would have to start your site on a dedicated server which can cost around $300 with setup and first month payment. $300 is alot of money and not many are willing to pay that much for a website.

My best advice is, stick with blogging, it’s cheap investments with a big proftiable outcome if you know how to play it right.
