In an earlier post I mentioned that one of the best ways to make a blog is to make the blog for yourself first. Become the primary reader of your own blog and ask yourself what would interest you when you come across your blog. Also, ask yourself what would catch your attention when you come to your own blog as a regular reader. A lot of bloggers, especially novice bloggers, are in it for the money, so they think money first and content later, but it should be the other way around.

If I knew 9 months ago what I know now about blogging, then I would be at a higher level in the blogsphere than the level I am now. Of course everyone goes through this slow pace of learning of how to blog correctly. You don’t learn anything without making mistakes first, and learning from them. It’s kind of like a relationship, the longer you’re in a relationship with someone, the more you learn on how to make each other happy.

Most new bloggers make the same mistake of going after money disregarding the quality of their blogs. I have done a lot of tweaking to my blog but I never knew the flaws of my blog till I got insights from my reviewers. After reading their reviews I decided to review my blog as a regular reader. After reviewing my own blog and thinking about what I learned about blogging, I said to my self, what the hell was I doing. Oh well, I guess that’s how we improve ourselves.

The following is a list of things that I considered when reviewing my own blog.

1. Looking at the overall theme of the blog and making sure it’s easy on the eyes and it’s easy to read. Almost all successful blogs, which I have seen, have a white theme template.

2. Clear out any junk on the side bar if there’s any, and only place and keep the materials that are needed, such as blog roll, calender, categories, etc.

3. Makings sure the targeting keyword is in the site’s title.

4. Making sure there’s an Archives page, an About page, and a contact form available for visitors to easily contact me.

5. Place as less ads on the pages as possible. One AdSense ad per page near the blog post is recommended. If adding more ads are necessary then the ads should be small and not distract the user from the main content.

DesiNotes.com
I created this blog and talked about the various topics that interests me. However, in my opinion I think what I did was a bit too sloppy and unorganized. I randomly talked about what ever came to my mind. It’s like a person getting drunk and talking about out whatever came to his/her mind. Anyways, I don’t drink, never did and never will, but my friends do, and when they get drunk they tell me random secrets of their life.

A lot of people have done reviews for this blog and they all say similar things when it comes to the topics I chose to write about. They all said that my topics vary a bit too much and my focus is too wide. That’s why I have to change my title again, but this time into something that correlates to a focus that shows what I talk about the most.

For those who are new to this blog my old title was “Random Ramblings of Desi Baba” but now it’s “Blogging with Desi Baba” since now I talk about things related to blogging.

So, when new visitors come I hope they can figure out what this site is about and stay if the focus of the site interests them. Try reviewing your own site as a regular reader, you will surprised how much your blog will improve.
