I’m getting ready for my New York trip to take care of some college matters in Manhattan, sightseeing with friends, and other matters and it took me a while to decide if I should buy an iPod or not. I booked my ticket with Airtran and I know I’m going to be on the plane for two hours so I need something to keep me busy. I thought of taking my laptop but I’m not willing to carry that on top of my other things.

Before, I wasn’t really interested in a device that plays just mp3s. I had my phone which was also a mp3 player, but now a year after it came out, I got interested in the video iPod. This type of iPod can play hours of videos based on the 30 GB, 60 GB, and 80 GB format.

After careful consideration I purchased the Apple 30 GB iPod video Black (5.5 Generation) from Amazon.com for $240.00 with FREE shipping. I figured that if I didn’t want it later then I can sell it on eBay for $250 and add some old DVD, that I dont want anymore that’s lying around my house, and get my money back.

Since the iPod can play DivX videos it lead me to also order the CTA Digital IP-VIC iPod Video Cable which allows me to hook my iPod videos to a TV with a composite video/audio input and play them.

I have a big screen TV in my house so I know the iPod videos are going to look excellent. Delivery estimated to be five days so, I have to wait till monday to get it. After I get it I will write another post on how good the device is even though you probably read millions of reviews about it when it first came out; however, everyone has certain different views on this thing.
