It’s true and it’s confirmed that the Mummy franchise would continue with the third full length movie, directed by Rob Cohen, The Mummy 3: Curse of the Dragon. Brendan Fraser will return as Rick O’Connell; however, Rachel Weisz, who played as Rick’s wife, Evy, will not return. Rachel Weisz recently had a child and she turned down the offer to cast in the third film. Luke Ford who played Alex, Rick’s son, will also return.

The Mummy 3: Curse of the Dragon

With the return of the actors from the previous Mummy movies there will be several additions to the cast. The famous Jet Li will cast in the film as Emperor Han. Along with Michelle Yeoh who will play as Zijuan, a wizard. Also, there is a possibility that the beautiful Chinese actress Liu Yi Fei (picture on the right) could also take a role in the Mummy 3 movie. She is very young but Cohen thinks she would be perfect to play a young character in the movie.

I don’t want to ruin the movie but here is a short plot outline:

In the Far East, trouble-seeking father-and-son duo Rick (Fraser) and Alex O’Connell (Ford) unearth the mummy of the first Emperor of Qin (Li) — a shape-shifting entity who was cursed by a wizard (Yeoh) centuries ago.

The movie is scheduled to be released in July 11th, 2008 and hopefully it’ll be better then the previous two movies.
