Here are 3 checks you can do to know the health of your blog.

Link popularity check
You can measure your website’s online visibility. Link popularity refers to the total number of links that a search engine has found for your website. This tool helps website owners find out who is linking to their site. You can do the link popularity check here. Paste your website url in the space provided and you have the option of entering up to 3 comparison url’s. Click on generate report. You get to know the total number of pages in each search engines index that contains a link to your site, including your own website. The report for my blog www.desinotes.com gave Google/ AOL/ HotBot as 181 and Yahoo/Fast/Altavista as 454. That’s a total of 635. You can also view the trend or history of the report.

Search engine saturation
Click here to check. It tells the number of pages a given search engine has in its index for your website domain. Not all search engines report this information but many of them do. You can compare your website to competitors on a regular basis to see if your Search Engine Saturation is climbing or falling. A check for my blog gave total of 54 with the break up of Google at just 1, MSN 19 and Yahoo /Altavista at 34. What’s going on for desinotes with Google? Just 1? Once you are aware you can then increase your sites saturation levels by various means.

Keyword verification
Click here for keyword verification. You can find out if your site is in the top 3 pages of a search result for a specific keyword. It is critical that a search shows up in the first 3-4 pages since most people don’t go beyond that with the information they are looking for. If the keyword is relevant and you want to be found for it but you aren’t, make sure you are using that keyword in the content of your website. Also make sure the keyword you are checking is something you want to be found for.
