Page Rank (PR for short) is a system that Google developed that ranks a site from 0 to 10. Each site on the web has a certain rank. The higher the rank a website is the more relevant it is. Google.com is ranked to be the only site ranked 10 in my research. If you really think about it, it’s obvious why, becuase they created the system and they will rank their site as the top site. Big site’s like CNN.com are ranked 9; it’s a rank which is highest a non-google site can receive.

The way Google’s ranking works is the more visitors that come to your site the higher the rank your site will recieve.

How do you check a site’s PR?
If you downloaded the Google toolbar for Internet Explorer you will see the page rank tool on it. It shows up as a green bar measuring the rank. There are also site’s that offer visitors to check the PR of other websites such as http://www.checkpagerank.com; just type in the URL in the PR checker field and it’ll give the Page Rank.

How do you get a high PR?
It’s not as easy as 1-2-3; however, anyone can do it. First, you have to have a site with high quality content. In several of my posts I repeatedly emphasized that, high quality = more visitors. Do NOT try to go around it, no matter how you “try” cheat the system you will only waste your time.

Second, Google search sites that offer a product or service or any type of content in the same field as your site. For example, if your site was a about sport cars, then search “all about sport cars” or if your site was about traveling then search “traveling tips” or “traveling advice”, and find the PR of those sites. If they have PR of 4 or above then try to get them to link to your site. Affiliate with them in some way, if you have no choice then to exchange links then go for it, it’ll help your ranking, but try to get other sites to link to your sites without you linking back.
