A lot of credit card providers these days are in competition with each other providing zero to low APR rates with no annual fees. One thing that catches my eyes about these credit cards is their rewards program. American Express offers rewards in all of their credit cards, such as their Delta Airline credit card and the American Express Blue Rewards card.

If you are thinking about opening a new credit card account in the near future always choose one that offers rewards of your choice. Almost all of my credit cards came with rewards program for using them.

Discover® offers several rewarding cards such as their Platinum Gas Card. What so good about this credit card is that it offers 5% return on gas and auto maintenance and on selected merchants; and 1% in all other purchases. If you think about it, you can generate a lot of money just from buying gas. Consumers buy gas almost every week and this 5% cash return for purchasing gas will help them a lot in the long run.

One of my favorite credit cards is AirTran’s credit card. I travel a lot and AirTran offers points for everyday shopping for free tickets. I virtually purchase everything with a credit card and I use AirTran’s credit card about 95% of the time because I know I’m rewarding myself for free tickets each time I use it.

So, next time you’re opening a credit card, don’t just look at their low APR, look also at their rewards program. If you can’t decide which credit card to choose then try the Discover® Platinum Gas Card.
