Several days ago Technorati’s re-ping lowered the ranks of majority of the blogs in the blogsphere. A lot of blog owners, especially me, were not too thrilled about it. DesiNotes.com was in the top 50,000 sites then my blog got kicked out of it. My rank before the re-ping was ~43,000 and after it lowered to ~58,000. Today it picked up a bit, my blog is around ~52,000 now.

I realized that I shouldn’t get upset over it. Even though it seemed as if my site has been lowered in rank, in a way it really hasn’t. The re-ping was actually just from Technorati; however, it’s not the same as Google. I check my link popularity on Google from CQCounter.com’s Link Popularity tool and I see that my Google links jumped from 25 to 87 links. Therefore, all that hard work did pay off because at the end only Google matters.

So, don’t get demoralized if your rank on Technorati is not as high as it was before. Technorati re-pinged so it wont count the multiple links to different posts toward the same site, but it helped in Google rankings and link-backs.
