I am running Windows 2000 Pro SP4 under Parallels under Mac OS 10.4.8 on an iMac (24-inch, 2.16GHz). Works very well. Applications run faster on it than on my Athlon 1.8GHz whitebox. You do need to have at least 2GB of memory to run Parallels with reasonable performance. You can find legitimate copies of Win2K at used computer stores for very little money. 2. "I am considering getting the MacBook 13 inch 2 Core Duo. What do you think? I read the reviews and the performance is great except for a heating problem." I own a new MacBook (Core 2 Duo). Heat is not a problem. I run Hardware Monitor and the temps are well within an acceptable range. MacWorld had a recent article that said the new Core 2 Duo laptops run 10 degrees F cooler. My experience bears that out. 3. "Well I plan to use Windows with my Mac because lot of the software I have are only for Windows. With Mac OS there is a limitation with the number of software you can use." True. But, you can say that about any operating system. Surf to Version Tracker and look for software under Mac OS X. Lots. Yes, there are apps that only run under Windows and they don't have a Mac equivalent. I have two. WebTrends for analyzing webserver log data and producing great looking reports. That is why I use Parallels. Also SwishMax for creating Flash movies. Yes, Flash (from Adobe) runs on a Mac, but SwishMax is so much easier to use. I see three (3) reasons not to buy a Mac: 1. My Intel Centrino laptop (Dell 700m) is getting progressively slower and I keep this sucker as a barebones system. I have 1.2gb of ram yet it gets bogged down.
