Women, Wine, and Wealth are the three things that destroys a society when abused. I’m currently a History major and I’ve studied different societies in different periods of time and all of them have this similar connection that caused their states’ downfall.
I wouldn’t mind having few women on my left and on my right…lolz, but having so is very bad for society.
Wine
It’s understandable why wine or any type of alcoholic drinks were used to substitute water in the early times. Water back then was not clean, it had various types of diseases and bacterias that could cause illness and death to who ever drinks it. Instead, alcoholic drinks were used to drink in replacement of water and also as a leisure drink during social times or in celebrations. But in earlier times, often drinking alcoholic drinks were abused and altered men’s minds to a point that fouls them up and makes them act with foul manners in their societies. Manners such as raping, stealing, killing, etc.
Wealth
Wealth is biggest factor that destroys societies, civilizations, and empires. Wealth in general does make a state very powerful, but throughout history we see that the constant and unlimited quest for wealth has taken down even the most powerful empires such as the Ottoman Turkish Empire and the Roman Empire. An average man becomes very greedy with money, and as more men become greedy and become alike, a gap forms between the poor and the rich because the rich will not help the poor. History shows that in every society there will always be less rich people than less poor people. When a man or a group of men cannot control their greed then it usually leads them to their downfall and eventually to their unfortunate deaths and the deaths of others.
I wrote this post because America is slowly repeating the mistakes of fallen empires. President Bush needs a heads up of what going on in the world and in his own country. President Bush went to war with Iraq to feed the greedy corporations and in return it’s took the lives of many US soldiers and hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis.
